Our 2022 graduation theme is Lux Via! — Latin for Light the Way

As the world transitions out of the acute COVID-19 phase, we have begun to see the light at the end of the pandemic. Light gives us hope and allows things to be visible, be it a small candle flame, ray of sunlight or florescent beam. The UWI has represented a brilliant light of stellar service and leadership in the Caribbean for over seven decades and more recently, has lit the way for the region to navigate the revitalisation of its economies. UWI graduates, found in every sector of Caribbean society, including the highest levels of government and business continue to spotlight the strength and value of this great West Indian tradition. As we continue to live our University’s motto, “Oriens Ex Occidente Lux”— “Light Rising from the West”, the next up and coming generations of Pelicans are called to continue to ‘light the way’.
